TRACKING THE TROPICS: Disturbance in Gulf has low chance of development

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – As Tropical Storm Edouard moves over the Atlantic, we’re watching another disturbance off to oru west in the Gulf.

Thankfully, the small area of low pressure, which is located in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico between Panama City and Apalachicola, isn’t one to worry about.

As of 2 a.m. Monday, the National Hurricane Center is giving the system a low, 10% chance of tropical development over the next two days.

But the system will elevate rain chances in Tampa Bay Monday as it passes by to our north.

Conditions could become more favorable for development once the disturbance emerges into the Atlantic. Some development will be possible off the Carolina coastline Tuesday and Wednesday.

Stay with Storm Team 8 as we track the tropics throughout hurricane season.
