Slow-moving downpours moving through

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Another round of widespread, slow-moving downpours is spreading across our area this evening. We could see small hail, gusty winds, temporary flooding, and blinding downpours. The storms will begin to fade, or push out of our area after sunset.

These downpours are associated with newly formed Tropical Depression 2 in the Gulf. The system will drift slowly southward and intensify into Tropical Storm Arlene. After the weekend, the system will drift closer to Cuba and fade.

TD 2 will continue to enhance our chances for rain on Friday, with another round of storms spreading across our area. We expect a 70% chance of afternoon downpours tomorrow. By the time the Gulf low loses its impact on us, we may get widespread 1-4 inches of rainfall with isolated heavier pockets.

The rain chance drops to 50% Saturday, as we transition back into a typical summer storm pattern.

Sunday will be a tad drier, with 40% chances for primarily afternoon storms.

Fewer showers are expected early next week, but watch for a few spotty afternoon storms. Rain chances will be 20% Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

At this point, we don’t expect a significant drop in humidity next week.
