TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Today was gorgeous, warming into the mid 80s for the afternoon. Tonight we will see building clouds and temperatures cooling down to 68° overnight.
We may see a few showers and storms fire up late this afternoon into the evening in eastern Polk and Highlands counties, but the will drift further to the east and out of our area.
We have a small chance for light showers late tonight into early Sunday morning. A weak cold front is pushing through on Sunday and we will see a few stray showers early Sunday morning as a result.
The best chances for showers are along the coast, prior to 10 a.m. We do not expect any strong storms and rainfall accumulations will be light.
The clouds will take a bit longer to clear. We will start to dry out between 9-10 a.m. and our skies will start to clear out closer to the noon hour. Expect a sunny, mild afternoon with temperatures mainly in the 70s and dropping humidity.
Sunday will be lovely with clearing skies and mild temperatures. Sunday evening turns cool quickly, with temperatures sinking down through the 60s and eventually into the upper 50s.
Monday starts off with a slight chill with temperatures in the 50s. Expect a quick warm up with afternoon temperatures rebounding into the mid 80s under mostly sunny skies. We’ll enjoy the crisp low humidity all day Monday, but a warm front on Tuesday brings some of the humidity back, along with record challenging high temperatures.
Monday morning will be near average and crisp with lows in the upper 50s before temperatures warm into the mid 80s Monday afternoon with a lot of sunshine. Tuesday and Wednesday will be near record heat with highs in the upper 80s, close to 90°.
A strong cold front passes through Thursday and Friday increasing rain chances, showers and thunderstorms will be likely.
There are some question marks as to whether the rain will clear out by the weekend but it does look like temperatures will cool off some with highs in the mid 70s Friday and Saturday.
