TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -Drier air over the state limited our chances for showers today, a few downpours crept across our southern counties before pushing offshore. We topped out at a sticky 94° and without our typical afternoon storms to cool us down, we will ever-so-slowly cool out of the 80s after midnight. Expect clearing skies overnight.

Friday kicks off in the upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. Easterly winds will be light, but will push the only isolated chances for showers we have westward across our area. The chance for showers is only 20%- and most likely in our southernmost counties. The drier air limiting our chances for showers continues into the weekend.

Rain chances increase slightly to 30% this weekend. Watch for a few more afternoon storms to develop, but still not a wash-out. Highs will be in the low 90s Saturday and Sunday.

Next week the dry air over us erodes and our more typical chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms returns, keeping our afternoon highs closer to 90°.
