The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Alafia River, the Manatee River near Myakka Head and Horse Creek near Arcadia.

According to the NWS, heavy rainfall the past few days has caused the local rivers to rise.

Storm Team 8 is also keeping a close eye on more rain that’s expected on Sunday. The NWS says that rain could cause minor flooding in some locations.

The Flood Warning for the Alafia River will likely remain in effect for the next several days.

The other warnings will stay in effect from late Sunday night until Tuesday morning.

According to National Weather Service meteorologists, the Alafia River is expected to rise above its 13-foot flood stage to about 13.3 feet early Monday and will fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.

The NWS says the Manatee River was at 10.1 feet Saturday night. Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

The river is expected to rise to nearly 12.2 feet by Monday and then fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.

The NWS is reminding residents to not drive cars through flooded areas.
