MONROE, La. – (4/22/19) A Monroe man has been arrested after officials say he assaulted his girlfriend and threatend to cut her up and hide the body.
Matthew Ramsey, 38 of Monroe, was arrested on Sunday, April 21, 2019.
According to the arrest report, deputies with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestice disturbance in the Old Depot Road apartment complex on Easter Sunday.
Deputies arrived on scene and arrested Matthew Ramsey for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend after holding her captive in a locked bedroom.
The report says Ramsey physically assaulted his girlfriend after she allegedly lied about stealing from him.
Ramsey repeatedly hit his girlfriend in the face and then locked her in a bedroom to prevent her from leaving.
Deputies say the victim claimed that Ramsey would “cut her up and hide her where ‘they’ would never find her”.
The arrest report states that Ramsey admitted that he hit his girlfriend but claims it was in self defense.
Ramsey also claims that “if” he said he would cut her up, he didn’t mean it.
Matthew Ramsey has since been booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center and his bond has not been set yet.
