(KRON) — Head coach Kyle Shanahan may be in charge of selecting plays for the San Francisco offense. But wide receiver Deebo Samuel has the esteemed role of selecting the team’s walkout song — a tradition that has been going on for years.
It’s no different for Super Bowl LVIII.
For the big game, the 49ers will be walking out to “Green Dot” by YoungBoy Never Broke Again (NBA YoungBoy), Samuel told reporters in Las Vegas during Super Bowl week.
“We’ve been vibing to “Green Dot” for the past couple weeks by (NBA YoungBoy),” Samuel said.
Samuel and left tackle Trent Williams are typically seen leading the team’s walkout. Samuel says he and Williams, along with defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, discuss the song choice. Samuel is considered the president of the song-selection committee while Williams as vice president.

Williams seemed to concede Samuel gets the final say as the “DJ.” Watch the soundbite below.
“When you have Trent Williams and Deebo coming out with the music with their swagger, their energy, it’s very infectious,” tight end George Kittle said. “When you’re behind those two guys who play at a very high level and bring it every play, it just encourages everyone around them to step it up and gives you a sense of confidence.”
Samuel has held that responsibility since 2019 when the 49ers started to walk onto the field with a giant boombox (pictured above). In the past, the 49ers have walked out to “Super Gremlin” by Kodak Black and “Won’t Step on Me” by NBA YoungBoy.
He revealed his top five rappers: Lil Baby, Future, Rod Wave, NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk.
