Rays trade Ramos to Phillies, Archer to Pirates

Just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Rays announced they traded catcher Wilson Ramos to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

Just before 4 p.m, the team announced that Chris Archer will head to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for outfielder Austin Meadows, pitcher Tyler Glasnow and a third piece that is still being decided.

Ramos had spent the last 10 games on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. He was selected to the American League All-Star team, but was unable to play due to the hamstring strain.

The 30-year-old was hitting .297 with 14 home runs and 53 RBIs.

Archer has had a more difficult year, spending some time on the disabled list due to an abdominal strain. He held a 3-5 record and a 4.31 ERA.
