Rio de Janeiro is alive, dancing with anticipation, about to put on the biggest show in the world. The Olympic Games make their South American debut on Friday in a truly vibrant city.
“I am so excited to experience Rio. It has such a reputation for just being so fun, so right, and to have an Olympics there, especially. As if the Olympics wasn’t bright enough. I think it’s the perfect combination and I’m so excited to see what Rio does with it,” swimmer Missy Franklin said.

The Opening Ceremony for the Rio Olympic Games can be seen August 5 on News Channel 8. News Channel 8’s Paul Ryan will be in Rio with live reports during the Olympics, which run from Aug. 5 – 21.
