‘Koetter’s Korner’ discusses the return of Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – For three weeks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter stood by his decision to wait until week four of the NFL season to discuss which quarterback he will use when the Bucs visit the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

For now, that decision will remain private.

Tuesday morning, quarterback Jameis Winston returned to One Buc Place, his three-game suspension complete.

In this week’s “Koetter’s Korner” exclusive interview with News Channel 8’s Dan Lucas, Koetter said he spoke with both Winston and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick about their respective roles moving forward.

Time will tell which quarterback will take the first snap at Soldier Field on Sunday, but a plan is in place that will most likely ease Winston back into his starting role, given Fitzpatrick’s current form, health and the chemistry of the Bucs offense.

Koetter has said on many occasions that he feels confident the Bucs can win games with either quarterback.

Monday’s 30-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers was a lesson in recovering from costly mistakes and showed what the 2018 Bucs are about, refusing to quit down by three scores at halftime.

Koetter pointed out the play of rookie cornerback Carlton Davis, matching up with the Steelers talented wide receiver group.

MJ Stewart also earned praise, although the secondary was dealt another blow by the loss of safety Chris Conte, placed on injured reserve with a knee issue.
