HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman driving the wrong way hit a guardrail and a piece of construction equipment. Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested her for driving the wrong way and DUI with property damage.

It happened on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in Hillsborough County near mile marker 9 late Friday night, according to the FHP report. Dezelle Bennett, 26, was driving her Chrysler 200 going west trying to get on the eastbound exit ramp.

When she realized she was going the wrong way she steered towards the shoulder and went through the grass median. She hit a guardrail and a piece of road construction equipment before stopping, according to FHP.

She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. FHP troopers arrested her later for two counts DUI with property damage and driving the wrong way.

She was taken to the Hillsborough County jail where she refused a breath test.
