A South Carolina girl is on cloud nine after American Airlines inducted her as their first flight attendant with special needs and a terminal illness, WIS10 reports.
Shantell “Princess” Pooser of Columbia, South Carolina has Down Syndrome and battling a terminal illness, which obstructs more than 87 percent of her airways.
When her condition took a turn for the worse, Princess and her mother began flying back-and-forth to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
“So far, we’ve been on over 57 (flights). That’s including the connecting flights, as well, too,” her mother, Deanna Miller Berry, told WIS10. “She saw the flight attendant, and she was like, ‘Mommy, I want to be a flight attendant.'”
An American Airlines pilot got word of Princess’ wish and set out to make her dream a reality.
On Saturday, the airline hosted a birthday for Princess, giving her a uniform and filling a plane with family and friends.
