(WFLA/CNN Newsource) – A new study suggests dogs aren’t as smart as we have been led to believe.
The news comes from a study in the journal “Learning and Behavior.”
It compares canine cognition to other carnivores, social hunters and domestic animals, all groups that dogs fall into.
Researchers used existing behavior information of wolves, cats, dolphins, chimps and other animals to see if dogs possessed any special skills not recorded in other species.
The conclusion?
They did not.
Dogs are however, slightly above average when it comes to social cognition, especially when taking cues from humans.
