Dua Lipa went after United Airlines on Twitter after she received an unpleasing response from a steward.
In a tweet Wednesday morning, the 22-year-old singer and songwriter said she alerted the airplane crew of her sister’s severe peanut allergy.
According to the post, she told a flight attendant her sister was “severely allergic to nuts” before the mid-flight snacks were passed out.
His response? “We’re not a nut-free airline. So if she has an EpiPen she might have to use that as we can’t not serve other passengers in your section nuts.”
I can’t believe i’m on a @united flight rn and I told the steward that my sister was severly allergic to nuts and his reply was “we’re not a nut free airline so if she has an epi pen she might have to use that as we can’t not serve other passengers in your section nuts”— DUA LIPA (@DUALIPA) July 25, 2018
Unfortunately, the Federal Advisory Administration does not have any rules or regulations in place to ensure concerned passengers a peanut-free environment.
The FAA recommends those with a peanut allergy to check with their doctor and find out what medication they may need before taking a flight and to wipe down the surfaces around them once they have boarded a plane.
