A photo of an elderly couple holding hands as they’re being evacuated ahead of Hurricane Florence is touching hearts across the country.
The picture was taken by paramedics outside of a nursing home in Beaufort County as thousands were evacuated from healthcare facilities along the coast.
“DHEC received this photo of an elderly couple being evacuated by an #EMS crew from a SC coastal nursing home. We are grateful for the incredible crews still assisting with safe medical evacuations. #HurricaneFlorence,” the agency wrote on Facebook.
More than 1,700 were safely evacuated from nursing homes along the South Carolina coast, the agency said.
