A warning to job seekers. Online offers for work have surfaced that may look like the real thing but could end up costing you.

The new warning comes after people looking for jobs online were out of work and robbed of their hard-earned money.

Experts say the scammers promise you your dream job, but instead, leave you thousands of dollars in debt.

The Better Business Bureau says a company allegedly asks people to buy thousands worth of goods and send them out.

But a short time later, the company’s website shuts down and checks begin to bounce.

“They may have a lot of things to look legitimate. But if they want you to use your own bank account or your own credit card or send money in advance, that’s a red flag,” said Sue McConnell, the BBB President in Cleveland.

The Better Business Bureau says these scams are widespread, tricking nearly 4,000 people in just the last year.
