ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting Thursday morning in St. Petersburg.
Raymond Peterson was outside when he heard gunfire erupt just before 10:30 a.m.
“I heard about seven shots from a big gun, louder shots,” he said.
The shots came from behind his home on 16th Avenue S., near 7th St.
“I was fixing to clean my yard, then all of a sudden, I heard loud shooting and oh my god. So, I took my dogs and put them in the house,” said Peterson.
He said he went to the back of his house to investigate, but didn’t see anyone. Moments later, he noticed a man, identified as Adrian Wilson, 38, lying in the roadway.
“I walked back up front, he was coming up the street, then he fell over,” he said.
Detectives said they located a second man, 25-year-old Frankie Camacho, behind the homes in the alley.
“While they were expanding the crime scene, south of this in the alleyway, they discovered another victim, gunshot victim, who was dead,” said Rick Shaw with the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Crews rushed Wilson to the hospital. Investigators spoke to neighbors and potential witnesses.
A motive for the shooting hasn’t been confirmed at this time, but police believe both men are involved in the same incident.
Peterson has lived in the neighborhood for 39 years. He said he never expected this to happen in front of his home.
“This is a shocker. You don’t usually hear all this shooting and stuff. Quiet neighborhood, all elderly people here and we look out for each other, you know, so that’s just it,” said Peterson.
Wilson is in the hospital, in custody, and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON
