TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a home invasion just north of the University of South Florida.
It happened at 3705 Legacy Square at the St. Moritz apartments.
Authorities say two unknown suspects, one of which was armed, kicked in the front door and forced there way inside. A victim inside the residence was shoved to the ground. The victim briefly struggled with the suspects and was eventually able to flee the scene without serious injuries, but they were left with an abrasion on their arms and scrapes on their back. The suspects fled the scene a short time later. Detectives say this does not appear to be a random active and the motive seems to be drug-related.
The suspects in connection to the case are two males between the ages of 16 and 22. The black male is somewhere in between 5’9″ and 6′ tall, with short hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a hoodie style shirt and another t-shirt with writing on the front.
The second suspect has some facial hair and is somewhere around 5’8″ tall. He weighs approximately 160 pounds and was wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
USF sent a mobile text alert around 10:30 am to warn students to avoid the area.Numerous HCSO units, including aviation and K9 searched the scene with negative results. Detectives have yet to identify the suspects and are pursuing positive investigation leads at this time.
