Two officers shot during traffic stop in Georgia

LAVONIA, GA – Two police officers were shot during a traffic stop in Lavonia, GA Monday. The suspect is still on the loose, officials said.

The officers were arresting a driver after pulling over a stolen car when the shooting happened, officials said.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said one officer was shot in the shoulder and the other was shot in the hand and leg. Both officers are being taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

Dispatch confirmed Greenville County resident Khari Anthony Dashaun Gordon is wanted in connection with the shooting. Gordon is out on bond for an attempted murder charge.

A hospital is on lockdown due as officials search for the suspect.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Highway Patrol and the FBI are assisting in the investigation.
