Tampa police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred early Sunday.
The first incident occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of North MacDill Avenue in Tampa, according to Tampa Police.
Traves Jones, 37, told police officers he accepted a ride from an unknown man from Ybor City early Sunday.
When they reached the Newport Villas Apartments on North MacDill Avenue, a second unknown man appeared. The victim told police the driver and second man robbed him of his cell phone, cash and car keys.
The 37-year-old victim was shot in the hip when he attempted to run away. The victim was driven by paramedics to an area hospital for treatment. His condition was unavailable.
The victim’s only description of his assailants were they were Hispanic men in their 20s.
The second incident occurred about three hours later in the 3400 block of East McBerry Street.
The victim, Henry Hughes, whose age was unclear, told Tampa police he was standing with friends in the 3400 block of East McBerry Street about 5 a.m. Sunday.
Suddenly shots rang out and he was struck in the leg.
Paramedics took Hughes to an area hospital for treatment.
No description of the shooter was available.
