TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — All lanes on Interstate 4 are back open after a deadly crash involving a semi-truck in Hillsborough County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old Largo man was driving west on I-4 at a “very low speed” around 1 a.m. when a tractor-trailer, driven by a 42-year-old St. Petersburg man, attempted to overtake him.

The FHP said the tractor-trailer struck the rear of the sedan, pushing it onto the shoulder. The tractor-trailer then veered onto the shoulder and overturned.

The 31-year-old Largo man was rushed to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Troopers closed some westbound lanes for their investigation, but the roadway has since reopened.
