A 3-vehicle crash involving a truck carrying fruit trees, and a tractor trailer, closed southbound I-75 between the Pasco-Hillsborough County line, and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in New Tampa, for more than three hours Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred just after 6:00 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol cited one of the truck drivers for careless driving after he attempted to pass the fruit-tree truck, causing a collision that resulted in trees being strewn across the interstate. A third vehicle was involved in the crash, after hitting debris on the road.

Southbound I-75 was closed at I-275 at approximately 6:30 a.m., and drivers caught between the crash and the closure were stuck for up to three hours.

I-75 reopened just after 9:30 a.m.

None of the drivers was seriously hurt.
