CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) — A loggerhead sea turtle was returned to Gulf water this week after being rehabilitated at Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Kreacher was discovered floating and distressed with moderate edema near the Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach on May 8th.
She had a CT scan revealing shells in her esophagus and gastrointestinal track, causing her buoyancy complication and discomfort. She received treatments and a regular diet of squid and shrimp to help regulate her digestive system.
After receiving a clean bill of health, Kreacher has returned home to the wild this week.
Not only that, Kreacher received a satellite tag to track her as she swims. This allows the CMA Turtle Team to learn more about the natural behaviors, such as post-reproductive migration routes, of the endangered loggerhead species. Kreacher is the second sea turtle at CMA released with a satellite tag.TRACK KREACHER’S JOURNEY HERE: www.seewinter.com/turtletracking
