Tampa’s last Sears set to close

Tampa’s last Sears is expected to close.

The business is included in the latest round of Kmart and Sears stores closures.

CNBC reports the retailer, struggling to stay in business, plans to close 80 more Sears and Kmart stores across the U.S. in March, including locations in Tampa, 347 Westshore Plz, Port Richey, 9409 Us Highway 19 N., Port Charlotte, 1441 Tamiami Trl., and the Kmart in Ellenton, 6126 Hwy 301. The accompanying Sears Auto Centers will also be closed.

Sears chairman Edward Lampert put forward a $4.6 billion proposal to buy the company out of bankruptcy. The deadline is Friday, but no one stepped forward to make a bid.

The department store also announced plans to shutter more stores next year.

Workers were told liquidation sales will go underway in two weeks.
