TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — You see pictures posted on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest of people showing off their before and after weight loss pictures. Come to find out, a lot of those pictures you see are from right here in Tampa Bay.

There is an “8 week weight loss challenge” happening and people are seeing results.

“I had an amazing results. I lost 12 pounds and 20 inches off my body,” said busy working mom, Christine Hickok.

Hickok says her busy work schedule and raising her daughter left her out of the gym and her diet off track, so she decided to take the challenge.

“Sometimes you see your before picture and you’re like wow, I really have a lot of work I can do,” said Hickok.

Jim White of First Fit Tampa is part of the team helping with the challenge, and says if you decide to try this at home, you need to get into the habit of measuring your food.

“The biggest mistake people make is trying to eyeball their food, and they end up eating way more than a single serving.”

White admits a single serving of most foods, like peanut butter or cereal, is not enough to keep most people full, so he suggests paring it with something filling like a leafy salad.

Hickok explains eating clean during the day is something you can do on the go.

You can go out and go to Panera and get a salad, and get chicken and double the protein on that, and ask them to hold the dressing on the side,” she said.

Hickok also attended high intensity training classes two to three times a week as part of the challenge.
