An 18-year-old surfer was bitten by a shark in New Smyrna Beach on Wednesday.
The surfer was out on his board when the shark bit him on the foot.
The bite happened in the area notorious for shark bites, out by the jetty in New Smyrna Beach.
The surfer, who was in waist-deep water and coming into shore at the time, suffered two minor lacerations and did not see the shark.
The teen went to Bert Fish Medical Center.
It was the first reported shark bite of the year in the shark bite capital of the world.
