ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – St. Petersburg Police detectives are investigating an early morning homicide.
Police say it happened Saturday at 12:25 a.m. Scott R. Franklin, 41, was reportedly on his way home from work and was driving in the area of 6th Avenue South and 5th Street South.
Video surveillance footage appears to capture the victim’s vehicle being followed by at least two or three other vehicles which came to a stop just short of the intersection.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and saw someone leaning out of the passenger side of one of the suspect vehicles, according to police. The cars then fled northbound on 6th Street South.
