UPDATE: Southwest planes have been cleared to fly out of Tampa International Airport, officials said.
PREVIOUS STORY: TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – All Southwest Airlines flights are grounded, including those in Tampa.
A Tampa International Airport spokeswoman said the issue is caused by a computer glitch. Any planes in the air will be able to land.
Southwest posted the following statement on its website:
“Southwest Airlines began experiencing intermittent performance issues earlier this afternoon with multiple technology systems as a result of an outage. We are now managing flight delays across our system, with a temporary ground stop in place for those flights that have not left the gate. We apologize to our Customers whose travel plans are impacted.
