HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Holmes Beach police are warning drivers about a skimmer that was found in the city.
The skimmer was found Monday afternoon by a state inspector inside a pump at a Citgo at 3015 Gulf Drive.
The Holmes Beach Police Department believes the skimmer was placed in the pump on Friday night after the station closed.
The gas station owner realized on Saturday that one pump was not working properly, so the owner placed a cash only sign on it. The owner also noticed another pump had a panel open, but there was no skimmer inside.RELATED: Complete list of locations where skimmers have been found in the Tampa Bay Area
On Monday, the inspector looked at the malfunctioning pump and found a skimmer.
Since the pump was not accepting credit cards over the weekend, police say there may not be any victims. But police suspect the other pump with the open panel may have had a skimmer in it, so they’re urging motorists to monitor their bank statements.
This discovery comes after skimmers were found at Longboat Key and Bradenton Beach.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON RIGHT NOW:
