HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman was shot by deputies in Brooksville Sunday afternoon, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., multiple agencies responded to reports of a suicidal woman who had barricaded herself inside a home on Cedar Drive.  She was armed with a shotgun and had numerous other weapons at her disposal, police said.

As HCSO deputies and Brooksville police officers tried to make contact with the woman and waited for a SWAT and crisis response team to respond, deputies said she came outside, waved her shotgun and pointed it at several deputies nearby.

The suspect was then shot by three Hernando County deputies and sustained non-life threatening injuries.  She was bay flighted to a local hospital for treatment.  No other injuries were reported.
