Six hospitalized after gas tank ruptures inside Florida casino’s roof

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WFLA) — Six people were hospitalized after a gas tank ruptured in the roof of the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, Florida, Monday morning, according to a tribe spokesperson.

NBC 6 South Florida reports that the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. while maintenance was being done on a fire suppression system inside the building. A tribe spokesperson said a gas tank that was a part of the system ruptured, injuring 26 people total.

Initially, the casino said it was a mechanical unit that fell through the roof and into the building.

Six of the 26 victims were taken to a hospital for treatment, but no life-threatening injuries were reported, according to the spokesperson.

The cause of the rupture is under investigation.
