It was a dream wedding in Hawaii for Taelor Pleas and Niki Buldun, but getting home was a nightmare.
“Someone has got to look at this and go, ‘OK, this isn’t right,'” Pleas said.
The couple, along with Taelor’s parents, boarded a plane – first class – to come back to Tampa.
“It’s in the middle of the night so we’re taking our shoes off. We have our neck pillows on,” Pleas said.
Then security for Alaskan Air kicked them off. “She said, ‘You need to get off the plane or I will have you arrested,'” Pleas explained.
The family bought tickets through a third party – CheapOair. The trip to Hawaii was handled by American Airlines, but the trip back was through Alaskan Air. Somewhere along the way, the paperwork was bundled and the computer showed Alaskan had not been paid.
By time payment was confirmed, the plane was gone.
“Our first-class seats flew empty because the money wasn’t released,” Pleas said.
They were stuck, forced to buy lodging, transportation and extra meals. They made a flight to Tampa the next day – but not first class. The experience marred a memory that is supposed to be a happy one, and the couple still wants answers.
“Alaskan Airlines just kept saying it wasn’t their fault, that it was American’s fault and then when we got on the line with American, it was CheapOair’s fault,” the couple said.
