An empty pressure cooker caused a scare outside a Sarasota Walgreens on Tuesday.
Sarasota police officers were called to the Walgreens on North Tamiami Trail near Myrtle Street on Tuesday for a “suspicious device” that was found outside the store around 11:30 a.m.
Police evacuated the store as a precaution.
Members of the Sarasota Police Explosive Materials Unit responded to investigate. They determined the “device” was an empty pressure cooker.
Police said the pressure cooker was no threat to the public. The store will reopen again soon and officers will clear the scene.
