A North Port man accused of sexually abusing two girls called one of them while he was in jail, police said.

SNN-TV reports Nathaniel Kinney, 31, faces multiple charges for inappropriate sexual activity with minors.

According to police, the Department of Children and Families contacted officers after someone reported seeing Kinney touch a 13-year-old girl in his bed. He allegedly made the victim touch him inappropriately too. The incident was witnessed by three other people, police said, according to SNN.

Kinney was charged with sexual battery on a victim 12 years old or older and lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim over 12 years old and less than 16 years old.

Through the course of their investigation, police discovered Kinney also had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. He was additionally charged with committing an unlawful sex with a minor between 16 and 17 years old.

On Aug. 8, Kinney was ordered not to have contact with the 17-year-old victim, but on the same day, he allegedly called his mother from his jell cell and asked her to call the victim to tell her he wants to talk to her “before I go back and can’t call her anymore,” police said, according to SNN.  Then minutes later, Kinney allegedly called the victim and told her loved and missed her, but wasn’t getting out of jail, police said.

The following day, Kinney called his mother again and asked her to call the victim, tell her she’s the reason he is in jail and ask her to find out how to drop the charges against him, according to police.

He was charged Tuesday with violation of pre-trial release conditions and harassing a victim or witness of a felony. He remains in the Sarasota County Jail without bond.

“After meeting the young teenagers, Kinney would chat with them on the popular social media Snap Chat app. We believe more victims could potentially be out there,” the North Port Police Department wrote on Facebook.
