An “armed and dangerous” man wanted for shooting through an apartment door in Sarasota was apprehended Sunday night after he barricaded himself in a hotel room.

Detectives say Ryan M. Flanzer, 35, dressed in tactical gear and went to an apartment in the 1300 block of Main Street. He identified himself as a process server and was able to access the third floor of the building. He then fired several rounds through an apartment door. Fortunately, no one was inside the apartment when the shooting occurred, police said.

Flanzer fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV with the Florida tag Y14XJN.

Police said Flanzer showed up at the Westin Hotel on Sunday night and barricaded himself in a room. A Crisis Negotiation Unit arrived at the scene and talked him into surrendering. No shots were fired and no one was harmed. He is now in custody.
