All lights at U.S. 301 and University Parkway in Sarasota out due to lightning strike

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents to avoid U.S. 301 and University Parkway as all of the traffic lights are not functioning due to a lightning strike.

The sheriff’s office says repairs are expected to take several hours.

Deputies are on scene directing traffic and ask residents to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
