Gunshots rang out in front of a Sarasota Waffle House early Wednesday morning. Now authorities are trying to piece together what happened.
At around 2:45 a.m., deputies rushed to a Waffle House off Clark Road and found a large crowd gathered in the parking lot.
“There was a fight that happened in the parking lot. I’m not sure right now what the relationship is between the parties. I’m not sure if they’re known to one another,” said SCSO Spokesperson Kaitlyn Perez.
Deputies soon found three people who were seriously injured from gunshot wounds.
They were rushed to a local hospital.
“Thanks to a partnership with the Sarasota Police Department, officers were able to locate two individuals who are currently being interviewed by our detectives,” said Perez.
Locals tell us this Waffle House has a great reputation and is in a relatively safe area.
“It’s very scary and it’s too close for comfort and not a lot of people have self-control because now three people are hurt. It’s very scary,” said patron Lindsay Degg.
It is unclear at this time if charges will be filed.
The three injured are expected to recover and the public is not in danger. Names have not been released at this time.
Officials say there were a lot of witnesses and they’re encouraged to talk to detectives.
“You just walk away, you gotta be the bigger person and walk away from something like that,” said Degg.
Waffle House management did not wish to comment. If you have any information, call the sheriff’s office.
