Sarasota County man sentenced for beating, killing 12-pound dog

A Sarasota County man has been sentenced to 10 months in jail and three years of probation for the brutal beating death of a dachshund.

Stacy Sean Glover, then 24, was caught on video punching the 12-pound dog, named Athena, over and over again. Glover had agreed to watch the dog. He initially said the pup had run away from home. But, home surveillance video showed him beating the dog and throwing her out the back door.

Athena tried to hide under patio furniture, but Glover chased her, beat her with his fist and then carried her inside by the throat. Video shows him throwing the lifeless dog into a nearby wooded area.

Glover’s defense team said he suffers from post-traumatic Stress Disorder since he served overseas.
