TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — The rain from Hurricane Hermine started one week ago in the Tampa Bay area and continued for nearly three days, however Flooding Warnings still remain in effect for areas near rivers around Tampa Bay.
The highest rainfall totals were in northern Pinellas County, where Lake Tarpon Canal reported 22.36 inches in those three days.
In Pasco County, nearly nine inches of rain fell in Holiday. That rainfall, combined with a wind flow that kept water levels high, allowed rivers to overflow their banks.
Flooding began along the Anclote River near Elfers late last week, and the water only receded back to flood stage on Wednesday morning.
Residents along that river have dealt with roads in their area covered in water for nearly a week. Flood stage for the Anclote River is 20 feet, and the water level will continue to slowly fall for the next few days.
