ORLANDO, Fla. (WESH) – An Orlando, Florida police officer used unnecessary force on a homeless man.
That’s the ruling of an Orlando Police Department citizen review board.
The decision rejects an earlier internal affairs ruling, which cleared officer James Wilson of any wrongdoing when he used force against Terre Johnson in august 2015.
It’s just the fourth time since 2010 that the review board has gone against internal affairs in more than 75 cases.
The Orlando’s police chief must now decide whether or not to charge the officer with battery.
Shortly after the incident, Johnson was charged with assaulting the officer however that charge was thrown out during his trial.
