Ever wonder what goes on in the kitchen of your favorite restaurants?
We’ve gathered details about the 30 Tampa Bay restaurants that received the most violations during inspections conducted from Feb. 2 to 6, 2015.
Each restaurant is shown in the slideshow above. The total number of violations the restaurant received is shown in the plate on the left side of the slide. The 8 restaurants with the highest number of violations for the week are listed below.
Egg Platter located at 6767 US 19 N. in Pinellas Park, 48 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 5 and found potentially hazardous creamer packets being re-served to customers.
Ten live flies were found in a box of potatoes in the dry storage area.
Inspectors issued a Stop Sale order on dented or rusted cans of spaghetti sauce.
An employee was cooking and prepping food, but was not wearing a hair restraint.
A slicer blade guard was soiled with old food debris.
During the previous visit on Oct. 31, inspectors found 14 violations.
Munchies located at 11208 E. Martin Luther King in Seffner, 46 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 2 and found a candy bar and an orange that were being stored in undrained ice.
An employee was preparing food, but was not wearing a hair restraint.
An employee was wearing soiled clothing.
Water, vinegar, wing sauce, pizza boxes and soft drink syrup were found stored on the floor.
Soil residue was found in food storage containers.
An accumulation of a black or green mold-like substance was found in the interior of the ice machine and inside the ice bin.
During the previous visit on July 29, inspectors found 31 violations.
Evergreen Chinese Restaurant located at 1238 Broad St. in Brooksville, 39 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 5 and found noodles were stored next to cleaner under a prep table.
A container of medicine was stored on a food storage shelf.
Seasonings stored in the dry storage area were not covered.
Various meats, crabs, and egg rolls were not covered in the walk-in cooler.
Single-use number 10 cans were being reused.
Non food-grade containers were being used for food storage.
The interior of a microwave was soiled with encrusted food debris.
During the previous visit on Nov. 12, inspectors found one violation.
Luigis Pizza located at 750 S. Broad St. in Brooksville, 38 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 2 and say meatloaf was held at a temperature greater than 41 degrees.
Cut tomatoes were held at a temperature greater than 41 degrees.
Soiled cloths, linen, aprons, coats, or other uniform apparel were not kept in a suitable container prior to laundering.
A slicer blade was soiled with old food debris.
A wall on the cook’s line was soiled with accumulated food debris.
During the previous visit on July 14, inspectors found 13 violations.
Vallarta’s Mexican located at 9212 Anderson Rd. in Tampa, 36 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 2 and found six live roaches near a small chest freezer on the cook’s line.
Dead roaches were found on glue sticky tapes.
Inspectors found soil residue in food storage containers.
A shelf under a prep table was soiled with food debris.
Food-contact surfaces were not sanitized after cleaning and before the next use.
A container of medicine was improperly stored.
During the previous visit on January 7, inspectors found 45 violations.
Eve’s Family Restaurant located at 3150 Tampa Rd. in Oldsmar, 36 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 2 and say an employee touched ready-to-eat food with their bare hands.
An employee touched their soiled apron or clothing and then engaged in food preparation, handled clean equipment or utensils, or touched unwrapped single-service items without washing their hands.
An employee washed their hands but did not use soap.
The ice chute on a self-service drink machine was soiled or had a buildup of a mold-like substance or slime.
A slicer blade was soiled with old food debris.
During the previous visit on Aug. 21, inspectors found 30 violations.
Breakfast Club located at 148 Mariner Blvd. in Spring Hill, 28 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 4 and say butter was being reserved to customers.
An employee’s purse was stored next to a bag of pasta.
Food was stored on the floor.
Beef patties were not covered in the walk-in freezer.
Raw chicken was not covered in the walk-in cooler.
Inspectors found dented or rusted cans.
An employee rubbed their hands together for less than 10-15 seconds while washing hands.
An employee came in from back door and used hand antiseptic instead of washing their hands.
During the previous visit on July 17, inspectors found 7 violations.
Munchies located at 11208 E. Martin Luther King in Seffner, 27 total violations
State inspectors visited on Feb. 4 and say the Certified Food Manager or person in charge lacks the knowledge of foodborne illnesses and symptoms of illness that would prevent an employee from working with food, clean equipment and utensils, and single-service items.
Soil residue was found in food storage containers.
Encrusted material was on a can opener blade.
An employee was preparing food but was not wearing a hair restraint.
Food was removed from its original container but was not identified by a common name.
The restaurant’s license was expired for more than 30 days.
During the previous visit on July 29, inspectors found 31 violations.

Inspectors from Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation conducted the inspections. The department cited violations of Florida’s sanitation and safety laws, which are based on the standards of U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Food Code.
While most establishments correct all violations in a timely manner (often during the inspection), the division’s procedures are designed to compel compliance with all violations through follow-up visits, administration action or closure when necessary, according to the Florida DBPR website.
