A new report suggests Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump may have violated US law by trying to do business with Cuba.
Newsweek magazine reports executives from Trump Hotels visited Cuba in 1998 for business meetings. The magazine says Trump Hotels spent more than $68,000 on the trip, but may not have obtained the necessary US treasury license to spend money in Cuba.
Due to the US trade embargo with Cuba, American citizens cannot spend any funds on the island.
President Barack Obama eased some of those sanctions last year after the US and Cuba restored relations.
Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway denied the allegations in an interview with “The View.” Conway said Trump’s hotel business never invested any money in Cuba during that time.
