She’s known as a bubbly judge full of personality. She coined the phrase “hot tamale train” on the reality TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance.”
And this week Mary Murphy can be seen working as an associate producer at the Millennium Dancesport Championships in Tampa, at the Marriott Waterside. “What is going on here today is the largest national ballroom dance competition in the world. It has over 16,000 entries,” Murphy said.
Murphy has been a judge at these championships for 10 years but she’s now taking on a different role. “This will be the first time I’m not judging or hosting. This time I’m going to be on the other side of the camera so I’m associate producer,” she said. “And this will be the first time being filmed by a sport network.”
This is the 18th year for the Millennium Dancesport Championships. More than 1,000 dancers are expected to compete through Sunday.
