A Polk County Department of Detention supervisor is charged with exposing himself to a South County Jail female employee.

Dexter Jerome Hill, 44, of Lakeland, was charged Friday with indecent exposure in public and tampering in a misdemeanor proceeding. Hill was a lieutenant in the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Department of Detention, deputies said. He worked at the South County Jail.

Hill resigned Friday. Deputies said he would have faced termination procedures if he hadn’t. Hill worked as a detention deputy for 19 years.

After the investigation began, Hill contacted the female witness to try and prevent her from incriminating him.

Hill was released Friday after posting $1,500 bond.
