WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) – Residents of approximately 50 apartments in Winter Haven are displaced after a Monday night fire at E.C. Towers.

According to police, members from the Winter Haven Fire Department responded to the call at 500 Avenue L NW at approximately 7:50 p.m.

When units arrived, the suspected fire was out, but there was water damage to units directly below the initial apartment where the fire started.

The more than 200 residents were evacuated to ensure the building was safe.

The residents of those 50 apartments will be temporarily displaced. The Red Cross responded and is assisting them with temporary housing until all water is cleaned up.

Police and Fire Department members went door-to-door ensuring all residents were accounted for and safely evacuated.
