Publix ranks second in best retail workplaces

A new report has named Publix the second-best retailer to work for.

Fortune released its “20 Best Workplaces in Retail 2018” list last week. The article says it ranked the companies based on survey feedback from more than 631,000 retail employees provided by Great Place to Work.

According to the Great Place to Work review, 93 percent of Publix employees say they are given the resources and equipment needed to do their jobs. The report also says 88 percent of employees responded that they are “proud to tell others I work here.”

Perks listed by employees include retirement, holiday bonus, tuition reimbursement, stock purchase plan and 401(k) match.

According to Fortune, the Lakeland-based retailer currently has 193,711 employees at its 1,170 locations. The company’s estimated revenue is $3.4 billion.

Publix was outranked only by Wegmans, a grocery store chain based in the northeast. Wegmans has 127 locations and has an estimated revenue of $8.7 billion.
