POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A Lake Wales pastor is charged with soliciting oral sex in a public place.
On Tuesday 66-year-old Stephen Glenn Charest, pastor at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, was arrested by an undercover detective at the Lake Fannie Boat Ramp. Charest is charged with soliciting another to commit lewdness.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said detectives were in the area because of recent complaints about lewd activity. The arresting detective said he saw the suspect enter a wooded area.
“I walked into the wooded area where I made contact with the male. Then after some casual conversation I asked the unknown male what he was doing in the wooded area,” the undercover detective writes in an affidavit. “The defendant stated the following, ‘I want you to (expletive describing a lewd act).'”
“I then asked the defendant, ‘OK, is that what you want me to do?’ The defendant replied, ‘Yeah.’ I then asked the defendant, ‘You ready?’ The defendant then replied, ‘Yeah,'” the detective writes in the affidavit.
Charest allegedly asked the undercover detective to perform oral sex on him. He was taken to the Polk County Jail. He posted $250 bond and was released.
