Two people are dead and a third suffered minor injuries after a crash involving a motorcycle in Lakeland.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. when an SUV tried to pass another vehicle on U.S. Highway 98, just north of Rockridge Road.
Troopers said a Ford Escape driven by 60-year-old Laura Belotti moved into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a motorcycle.
Both the driver and passenger, who troopers did not identify, were ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Belotti suffered minor injuries and was transported to Lakeland Regional for treatment.
