A bus driver for Walt Disney World has been put on unpaid leave after he was arrested for trying to meet a teenager for sex.
Kevin Van Orman, 35, was arrested by Polk County deputies in Bartow last week. They say he was arrested during an undercover operation where detectives go online to identify and find people using the internet to sexually exploit kids.
Just before 7 p.m. on March 25, deputies say Van Orman messaged an undercover detective posing as a 15-year-old girl on an app called Whisper.
During their conversation, released in an arrest report by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Van Orman told the “girl” it was “ok” that she was only 15. He then asked if she was going to Disney and suggested meeting up there, according to the report.
Van Orman then said he could come over that night and told her he was heading over. When the “girl” asked what they were going to do, Van Orman suggested cuddling, watching TV and massaging her, deputies say. He then asked for a kiss and a hug.
Detectives say Van Orman showed up at the undercover location around 9:45 and walked up to the front door. When he found out the door was locked, deputies say he left but returned a short time later.
After Van Orman arrived at the undercover location, he sent a message to the “girl” saying they could “fool around if you are comfortable doing that.”
Van Orman was arrested just before 10 p.m. when he walked up to the front door a second time.
According to the arrest report, Van Orman was also using the app to talk to an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl.
During his conversations with that “girl,” the arrest report shows Van Orman told her “age is but a number.” Detectives say he also talked about having sex with her and teaching her how to kiss.
When he asked for the second “girl’s” address, the arrest report states that he wrote, “I promise I’m not going to hurt you kidnap you or anything else.”
After his arrest, detectives say Van Orman told them “I think I’m addicted to sex” and “I’m not interested in younger children.”
According to the arrest report, he then said, “Some of the 16 years old I’m attracted to. I see them every day. The worst ones are the Brazilians.”
Van Orman is facing several charges including lewd battery and using a computer to lure a child.
A spokesperson for Walt Disney World released this statement:
“This individual has been placed on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the charges.”
