Polk County deputies are trying to find the crook who pushed a 77-year-old female clerk to the ground and threatened her with a pocket knife.

It happened just before 2 a.m. yesterday at the Circle-K on Galloway Road North in Lakeland.

Deputies say the suspect approached the woman, and shoved her down to the ground. He then bent over her and put a pocket knife up to her face, grabbed a handful of coins, then forcefully shoved the woman again and fled.

Thankfully the clerk was not injured.

“To say that I am outraged is an understatement. He had the opportunity to take anything he wanted out of that store without shoving a 77-year-old grandmother to the ground who was working as a clerk on a midnight shift. But he didn’t. You know why he did?  Because he could.” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

“She didn’t deserve to be robbed. She didn’t deserve to be shoved down to the floor. She didn’t deserve to have a knife stuck to her face and scared to death.”
